BioMoby is a grass-roots driven standard for providing bioinformatics resources on the Web that adds the following benefits over traditional Web-based interfaces:

• Data resources or analytical tools are discoverable in a context-aware manner.
  • Appropriate resources will be discovered at precisely the moment that they are needed, without requiring users to know that the resource exists!
• Data resources or analytical tools can be accessed in a high-throughput way by "generic" software tools without any programming.
  • Bioinformatics resources can be accessed by biologists as well as computer scientists and bioinformaticians!
• Data resources and/or analytical tools can be suggested by BioMoby, and then pipelined together (using a variety of software tools) without any programming.
  • Biologists can design and execute high-throughput workflows, being guided by the BioMoby system to help ensure that these workflows are both technically as well as biologically "rational".
